Felt really strong on a 50km training ride in the sun today. Accompanied by Don, a member of the local Cowley Road Condors cycling club. Resplendent in stylish pink themed club uniform, turns out Don likes a pit stop for cake as much as I do. According to Strava, I managed a PB for 10km. Looking at the data, the correlation is clear: the faster I ride, the sooner I get to the Victoria sponge. Maybe ‘eating more cake’ is the high-performance philosophy I’ve been looking for.

I certainly earned my cuppa after that—and the red nose, courtesy of the surprisingly potent British sun, the final proof that I’d been out in the elements a little longer than my sunscreen intended.

Cake inspired PB!

  1. Mmm cake, guess it’s a cyclists’ thing. Guess I will get used to it. Glad it’s going well Mark.

my bike was delivered and has a puncture even though I have not been out on it yet. Pfft
